Emily and Kimberly are our beautiful twin daughters. Emily was born with a condition called isodicentric 15 (15q11.2-13.3) or IDIC 15, also known as chromosome Dup 15q.

As with Emily, this chromosomal abnormality occurs “de novo”, it is not inherited and can not be prevented. It “just happens” during the formation of the reproductive cells. Emily has an extra chromosome, 47 instead of 46. A piece of her 15th chromosome broke off, ½ of it duplicated itself, then inverted, therefore making the 47th chromosome.
